Newsletter signup is handled by MailerLite. The form collects your email address and records subscription and confirmation status. Follow the confirmation email to complete a new subscription. Every newsletter includes an unsubscribe link.
Contacting Side Street or sending a tip does not subscribe you. Compass answers are not used to build a mailing list or target emails.

Email sent to the published domain addresses is received by Purelymail and forwarded to the founder’s Gmail inbox. The sender address, message and attachments are handled by those providers and used to read and respond to your message. Ordinary email is not a confidential drop box.

Newsletter invitation
This browser remembers when you dismiss the newsletter invitation or continue to signup, so it stays hidden for 30 days. This preference is stored locally on your device and does not identify you as a subscriber or send your reading activity to MailerLite.
The housing compass
Answers stay in this tab’s session storage so they survive a refresh. In the questionnaire, you can choose to share numeric answers in anonymous question totals. If you opt in, they are sent automatically after you finish all 16 questions. The choice is off by default. Skips, undecided answers and email addresses are excluded. The site stores counts by question, not a copy of each person’s answers. Published totals appear after 30 contributions, and each question needs at least 20 numeric answers before its breakdown appears. They describe self-selected site visitors, not Vancouver voters. You cannot remove one contribution from aggregate counts later. Use Clear & start again to remove your local answers and sharing choice. A local browser flag remembers a successful contribution to reduce duplicate submissions; it does not contain your answers or email. A browser restoring a tab may restore its session data. If you choose to use a browser assistant with the compass, that assistant can access the answers through the tools you use.
Optional website analytics
Google Analytics loads only if you choose Allow analytics. It measures page visits and basic technical information using cookies. Compass answers, scores, party selections, tip drafts and email addresses are never sent to Analytics. Advertising features and automatic form and outbound-link measurement are disabled. Page URLs are sent without query strings or fragments, and referring URLs are reduced to their website origin.
You can decline and use the site normally. Your choice is stored on this device. Declining later stops future collection; existing Google cookies can also be removed through your browser settings.
Hosting and external services
Cloudflare hosts the website and may process technical request information to deliver and protect it. Fonts load from Google Fonts. Opening an external link, including the MailerLite signup form, brings you to that provider’s service and privacy practices.
